Biography

Aldo Lipani holds a BSc from the University of Catania, Italy and an MSc from the University of Bologna, Italy both in Computer Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the TU Wien, Austria, under the supervision of Prof. Allan Hanbury and Dr. Mihai Lupu. He has perfectionated his studies at the: National Institute of Standard and Technologies (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Microsoft Research Cambridge, University of Glasgow, University of Amsterdam, and National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo. He has been invited to attend the 50th anniversary of the ACM Turing Award as ACM SIGIR ambassador and was awarded the 1st Place Microsoft One Week 2017 Hackathon Winner in the Business category. His research broadly focuses on Information Retrieval, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning.
